「英文原文」：

苦難中有一種神秘、奇妙、超然的能力，決不是人類理智所能了解的。凡沒有經過大苦難的人，決不會知道。一個受苦的人，若能得到鎮靜，竊笑自己的苦難，而不再求神救他脫離苦難，他就有福了；那時候，十字架要開始變成冠冕了。

「最新全譯本」：

苦難之中，有一股神祕、奇妙、超然的能力，不是人類理智所能測透的。聖潔、偉大的靈魂，必然經歷過大患難。受苦的人，若能達到甜美、鎮靜、無憂無慮的境地，可以對自己的苦難微笑，甚至不再求神救他脫離苦難，那麼苦難便成就了其美善的工作；這樣，忍耐也就圓滿成功；那時候，十字架要開始編織為冠冕了。
